ONEIDA LAKE WALLEYEFEST DERBY 2023 OFFICIAL RULES & REGULATIONS

 

Please note: Rules are subject to change prior to the start of the derby

 

  1. Entry ticket – only one name per ticket, must be purchased before 11:59 PM May 5th, 2023

  2. All prize winners take a truth verification test. Derby officials reserve the right to cut open the belly of any prize winning fish to check for foreign objects prior to final certification. If anything is found, it will be an immediate disqualification and lifetime ban from any and all future Walleyefest Derby’s. Failure to comply will result in forfeiture of award and entrant will be disqualified.  Every fish that makes the top 10 on the leaderboard at time of measuring will be bagged and kept by the derby for inspection until Sunday after the awards ceremony when they will be returned to the Angler who entered it.

  3. All walleyes must be caught after 12:01 AM May 6th, 2023 in Oneida Lake or its tributaries/estuaries with boundaries as follows:

    • Oneida River upstream from Caughdenoy Dam

    • Oneida River cut to Lock 23

    • Chittenango Creek 1 mile upstream from Route 31 bridge

    • Fish Creek downstream from East and West branch conversion

    • East barge canal 1 mile east of Fish Creek

    • Scriba Creek upstream from State Route 49 bridge to the Dam

    • All other creeks or streams within 1 mile upstream from Oneida Lake

    • The derby officially closes 3:00 PM Sunday, May 7, 2023

  4. Measuring stations are indicated on the website which is available online at www.oneidalakewalleyefestderby.com

  5. All walleyes must be ALIVE for entry at measuring station

  6. Size contest: Prize money is based on sales of at least 1,000 tickets. If less than 1,000 tickets are sold, the prize money will be prorated. For every additional 1,000 tickets sold, the prize money will increase according to the prize structure chart.

    • The official derby leader board will be maintained on the website above until 3:00 PM Sunday, May 7th, 2023

    • All walleyes will be measured until the derby leader board has 25 entries. Walleyes must be the minimum NYS angling length of 15” or longer

    • The official cutoff size is determined by the 25th position on the leader board

    • Entrants can check the official leader board on the website above until 3:30 PM Sunday, May 7th, 2023 to ensure their qualified walleye is listed. Report any errors to headquarters officials. No changes to the official derby leader board will be accepted after 4:00 PM Sunday, May 7th, 2023 unless by disqualification

    • Entrants must keep a copy of their fish entry form message they received from the website after their fish was entered

    • An entrant may enter a larger walleye than previously entered during the derby but only one size contest award will be granted per entry ticket

    • Winners are determined by LENGTH to the eighth of an inch. In the event of a tie the 1st tie breaker is weight to the hundredth of an ounce (5.01 example) 2nd tie breaker is girth measured to the eighth of an inch. 3rd tie breaker is a coin toss.  Contest results are not final until 4:00 PM May 7th, 2023

  7. Tagged fish: In April the NYS DEC tagged three walleyes for the Oneida Lake Walleyefest Derby and released them into Oneida Lake.  The tag numbers and values will be disclosed on Saturday morning, May 7th, 2023 on the derby website above. Claimants must present a valid 2023 digital ticket and the walleye, with tag still attached, with the matching number at a measuring station

  8. Entrants will have the ability to win multiple prizes, 1 size prize and 1 tagged fish prize per ticket

  9. Oneida Lake Walleyefest Derby reserves the right to have any walleye examined by DEC, Fisheries Biologist or Derby Officials

  10. Decisions of the Oneida Lake Walleyefest Derby Officials will be final
